Dear Friends,

Bios were always a hassle at Georgetown. What do I say? How do I identify myself? Let’s just make a big joke of it and get on with putting on the show. I always felt nervous writing my bio; I never knew if I was writing too little or too much or how to sum up an entire show’s experience in a few sentences! And I was never really that funny to make it a joke. It’s impossible!

But we, the incoming board of GTA, know that no matter how silly it might make us feel, we wanted to offer our mini Bios to you as a gift, so we could take the first step and get over the impersonal “hello” greeting.

Here we are! And we’re here for you. I can’t count the number of times we’ve mentioned in our conference calls over the past few months how much we care about communicating and building morale with the alumni of Georgetown Theater. We’ve made our first step – now it’s up to you! We’ll be sending announcements and tidbits of various kinds, and we invite you to take advantage of what GTA has to offer.

Get involved. Let us know what you’re doing and if we can help. The more everyone gets involved, the more productive and helpful the group will become.

One stumbling block: theater’s changed a lot. And that’s the truth. Maybe you don’t feel as connected to Georgetown Theater as you once did. Maybe the friendships you made fell through over the years. But we’re here to help rekindle that past, enjoy the present, and ignite whatever is to come.

So. To the practical. We have the Yahoo group. Facebook group. We have a database of alumni for your benefit if you want to look for an old friend. And we’re working on summer events and a Hall of Fame celebration. And if you’d like to make a donation to further our efforts (regional reunions and larger events as well), please be in touch. Quite frankly, our funds have practically hit rock bottom.

And if you were involved, but haven’t been in touch lately, just send a note to let us know you’re okay. It’s great to hear about your experience with theater at Georgetown, no matter what year you graduated!
